Many people use pornography or sexual behaviour to cope with stress, anxiety, loneliness, or boredom. Over time, it can feel compulsive: more time spent, stronger material, secrecy, broken promises to self or partner, and spirals of shame. Common signs include loss of control, fatigue, cycle of guilt and shame, repeated relapses in spite of your best efforts. If this sounds familiar, support can help you interrupt the cycle and recover your identity, intimacy, and connection.
Every plan is tailored to your goals, lifestyle, and pace. You’ll learn proven tools to manage urges, rebuild discipline, and create healthy reward loops that last.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is porn addiction a real addiction?
Yes. Research from neuroscience shows that pornography can hijack the brain’s reward system in a way similar to substance addictions. It leads to compulsive use, tolerance, and withdrawal symptoms when attempting to stop. At Sacred Space Counselling, we help clients understand these brain changes and learn strategies to rewire their minds toward health and wholeness.
2. How do I know if I’m addicted to porn?
You may be struggling with porn addiction if you’ve tried to stop multiple times without success, spend more time viewing than intended, require more stimulating content to achieve the same pleasure, and experience some form of dysfunction in work, health and relationships. You can take this confidential online survey for a quick self-assessment. More importantly, a safe and confidential session with a trained counsellor can help you assess where you are and begin your recovery journey.
3. How long does recovery from porn addiction take?
Recovery time varies for each person. Some begin noticing improvement in a few weeks; for others, it takes several months or even years of consistent effort depending on the complexities. Healing involves more than abstinence—it’s about learning new ways to regulate emotions, rewire your brain, renew your mind, and restore connections. We walk with you step by step, combining neuroscience-based therapy, accountability, and faith.
4. Is counselling at Sacred Space confidential?
Yes. All sessions are strictly private and confidential. We understand the deep shame and fear that often accompany sexual struggles. Our approach is compassionate and non-judgmental, creating a safe environment where you can share openly and begin healing without fear of exposure.
5. What types of therapy do you use?
We offer individual, couple and group therapy using an integrative, neuroscience-based, evidence-based, and trauma-informed approach that includes methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, MEMI (Multichannel Eye Movement Integration) and the CHOICE® model by Sex Addiction Specialist Dr Paula Hall (Laurel Centre, UK). These evidence-based frameworks help calm triggers, rewire the brain, process shame, and restore intimacy and identity.
6. Do you see clients for other issues beside porn and sex addiction?
Yes. We provide counselling for individuals and couples for a range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, marital and relationship issues, as well as sexuality-related issues such as, gender dysphoria, sexual dysfunction, and sexual intimacy issues.
